SPANISH WINE TASTING
presented by Scott Love from Henry Wine Group
Gramona Gran Cuvee 2004 Cave, Penedes
Gramona
has been making wine in Penedes since 1817 and is one of the few family
owned Cava houses left in Spain . Most Cava's are aged only 4 months
before being released, but at Gramona the average aging is 18 months.
The Gran Cuvee is comprised of Xarello Macebeo and Parellada. Nose:
Apple pie, wrapped in citric and reminders of toffee caramel, walnuts.
Taste: Fine carbonic finish, the tinges of pastry and dried fruit,
creamy and silky.
Burgans Albarino 2006, Rias-Baixas
Aroma
of damp, dewy fresh herbs with a perfume of semi-ripe apples. On the
palate: Bursting with pineapple, lemon, ginger and minerals. A well
made, yet affordable, Albarino.
Muga Rosado 2007, Rioja
A
well made Rose from a truly iconic producer from Rioja. A pale salmon
pink with very bright pastel reflections. Nose: Very fresh fruit with
exotic fruits such as kiwi, pineapple, and passion fruit. Palate: Fresh
and lively with hints of peach and passion fruit.
Vinicola Onix 2006, Priorat
This
surely must be the best value from the pricey D.O Priorat. This unoaked
is a blend of 55 year old Grenache and Carinena. It was a lovely nose
of mineral and ripe cherries, nicely layered and intensely flavored.
Wine Advocate
Muga Reserva 2004, Rioja
This
wine spent 24 months in barrel and one year in bottle. 93+ points from
Parker. On the nose you get freshly mown lawn, coconut, vanilla and
hints of toasted wood. On the palate the wine is firm with good
backbone, loads of mineral, ripe, red-berry fruit and spices. This wine
have excellent aging ability.
and much more...
From 7-9pm, come enjoy Live Music in our wine cellar. Wine by the glass and food will be available for purchase.
