TASTING:
Domaine
Bonnefond Cote Rotie 2004
Cote
Rotie exhibits tannic, ripe notes of black
raspberries, blackberries, cassis, smoke,
and a striking floral character interwoven
with a distinctive minerality as well
as a hint of wood. The mid-palate and
finish are long, textured, and intense.
It should drink well for 10-15 years.
Grape
varieties :
98% Syrah, 2% Viognier
Domaine
Andre Perret St. Joseph Rouge 2005
Tasting
Notes: The red Saint-Joseph bursts
with spicy, black fruit and pepper on
the nose and palate. The silky texture
is particularly impressive, and disguises
the core of serious tannins and good balancing
acidity that support the rich fruit.
Grape
Varieties: 100% Syrah
Domaine
Saint Gayan Gigondas Fontmaria 2001
Complex
and interesting is the medium-bodied,
elegant, fragrant 2001 Gigondas Font Maria.
A plu/ruby color is followed by a sweet
perfume of kirsch and blackberry fruit
with hints of earth, crushed stones and
flowers. This stylish Gigondas should
drink well for a decade.
Grape
varieties :80% Grenache, 20% Syrah
Gloire de Mon Grand-Pere 2004
- Chateauneuf-du-Pape
"Bosquet des Papes"
competes
with the top wines of the appellation.
Even in lesser vintages, the colour is
deep and rich. The bouquet is generally
very powerful and intense with the typical
spicy, peppery aromas of Chateauneuf-du-Pape.
On the palate the wines are broad and
very profound with massive black cherry
like fruit, great complexity, depth and
a finish that seems never ending. These
wines are quite special and will last
from 10 to 15 years. Boiron has also been
very successful in so called "off vintages",
notably 1984 and 1987.
The
Wine Advocate (2006) : 91-93 points :
Outstanding
Clos
de l'Oratoire 2004 - Chateauneuf-du-Pape
Lovely
purity, with racy red fruit and licorice
augmented by floral, mineral and mocha
notes. Long, precise finish supports the
fleshy raspberry fruit beautifully. Drink
now through 2020.
